Social Capital as a Consequence of Great Leadership

I’d really love to see Ken Robinson for a visit at the Ashesi University in Ghana. Another great mind of all times who deeply understands and spreads ideas about the future of education, in TED Talks like “Do schools kill creativity?” or with books such as “The Element. How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything”.

The past 10 years I have lived large corporations from the inside, experienced marketing agencies and communicated politics at the European Parliament. I have dealt with NGO’s, SMEs and giant organizations. Selling services, products or ideas. The bottom line is that, no matter the business or the size – great leadership will alway prevail. Great leadership being the ability to move people forward while and for, building social capital.

Patrick Awuah explores it perfectly in his goosebumps speech for the Class of 2015. He highlights how the students are agents of building the Social Capital of Africa by collective, collaborative actions where each individual takes responsibility.

I’m confident that one day governments all around the world will adapt to the new era of education. I do however wish it to happen tomorrow and not in another 50 years from now.

When I have kids, I wish them to have the education they deserve. An education based on critical thinking. An education that encourage empathy, intelligent communication and great leadership.
